Maura has been in education for over 15 years as a classroom teacher and tutor. She has worked with middle school, high school, and college math students in the US and abroad. She loves helping learners understand math and achieve their full potential!
Gabby has been teaching high school math for over 15 years. She currently teaches AP Calculus AB and BC as well as Data Science at an American school in Colombia, South America. She loves when students achieve that “ah ha” moment and feel empowered by their learning.
Eric has over 15 years of mathematics teaching experience at the middle school, high school, and college levels, both in English and Spanish. He is passionate about making math understandable to his students.
Lou Ann was born and raised in Western New York. Her undergraduate degree from SUNY Geneseo is in mathematics, and she has an EdM in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University at Buffalo. She has been a mathematics teacher for 34 years, including time in New York and in Northern Virginia, including Arlington County Public Schools and Fairfax County Public Schools. She has taught 8th grade math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, PreCalculus, and Discrete Mathematics.
Susan has been an educator since 2004. She has taught English at both the middle and high school levels in four different states, so she is well versed in a wide variety of state standards and curriculums. She loves helping students feel empowered in their own learning process.
Felipe has 22 years of experience as an operations engineer with an MBA. He has been tutoring for 26 years and has his secondary teacher certification. He loves student-centered activities applied to real life and believes every learner is capable. Felipe sees science and math in nature and daily life, and is an adventurer, lifelong learner, athlete, foody, melomaniac, and introvert.
With a bachelors in physics from Carleton College and a masters in teaching, Eric has 5 years experience teaching high school physics and AP Physics 1 in New York City. As a Master Teacher with Math For America, he has developed a wide range of methods to convey meaning to all students: from guides and visual aids to mathematical models and simulations. Through the introductory college physics level, he's happy to go over concepts from class, help with homework, consult on projects, or give extra preparation for an upcoming exam.
Kaitlin has been working in Fairfax County, VA teaching and tutoring mathematics since 2015. She has experience teaching in both an AP and IB school curriculum setting. While working with students, she focuses on building their foundational skills and extending their learning.
Katie is an English teacher from Cleveland, Ohio, where she earned an MA in English. Trained to instruct both Advanced Placement Literature and Advanced Placement Language, she has nearly ten years experience preparing students for the AP Exam along with a summer spent as an AP Reader (Literature and Composition) with the College Board. Currently, as an adjunct professor with Cuyahoga Community college, she teaches College Composition at the high school level.
Jameson has been working in education since 2011. He has experience as a history and social studies teacher in middle and high school in both the US and abroad. History allows us to not only learn about different cultures and societies, but helps us in developing our own perspectives on the world today.
David has been teaching science to students in grades 3 through 12 for over 13 years. He spends his free time baking pies, cycling, and looking for birds! Currently, David teaches Chemistry and AP Chemistry in Colombia, South America. He believes that understanding how the world works helps us to become more empathetic and make more informed decisions.
Stacy has taught for over 13 years at different levels ranging from grades 5–12. She has had opportunities to teach in various places from Alexandria, Virginia to Qingdao, China, and most recently, Cincinnati, Ohio. She has an undergraduate degree in Secondary Math Education, a minor in Chinese, and a Master’s degree in Education. She enjoys making math and Chinese understandable to students, and helping them develop confidence in their learning.
Julia has a degree in Spanish from Virginia Tech and took courses intended for native speakers at La Universidad de Murcia in Spain. She has been privately tutoring adults and children in Spanish since 2019. Based on her own experiences as a language student, she empathizes with students who struggle silently in the classroom or are fearful when it comes to using their language skills in real life. Julia creates curriculum based on her passion for sharing culture through music, dance, and traveling, in hopes of inspiring a life-long love of language learning in her students.
Kristina has been teaching chemistry at Starpoint High School in Lockport, New York for 17 years. She has taught all levels of the course, including AP Chemistry, and is able to explain complex topics in chemistry in an understandable and meaningful way. She loves helping students discover their strengths and developing their problem-solving skills.
Crystal is a mathematics, statistics, and French language teacher. She has over 11 years of experience teaching and tutoring various subjects around the world in international schools. Her goal for all of her students is that they feel confident and capable in whatever skills they are learning, and that they develop competency in order to be truly successful learners.
